What is Breathwork?

Breathwork encompasses a pranayama technique that utilizes conscious breathing to promote self-awareness and physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. The practice encourages individuals to explore their inner landscape and process emotional or physical blocks for overall well-being. When we  connect to self in a way that surpasses the mind we are able to weed out limiting beliefs that have been internalized from systems of oppression, traumatically invalidating environments, and our own cages that we have built. When we start to heal these internal systems and imprints we are more able to access liberation for ourselves, for our communities, and for our planet. 

Who can benefit from sessions?

Breathwork is suitable for anyone seeking personal growth, emotional healing, or improved connection in relationships. Whether individuals, couples, or groups, all can find value in the practice.

How do I prepare for a session?

To prepare for a breathwork session, come with an open mind and a comfortable space. Wear loose clothing, stay hydrated, and consider setting an intention for what you’d like to explore or achieve during the session. Below are some suggestions of prompts to think about or journal about prior to session. Picking one or two prior to session may support with identifying an intention. 

Consider the following questions: 

  1. Where in my body am I feels stress or tension?

  2. Are there any places in my life that I am feeling stuck?

  3. If I were able to release or not carry a mental/physical/emotional/spiritual burden any longer what would that burden be? 

  4. What would I like to call into my life? What have been the obstacles that have gotten in the way? 

  5. What trauma or pain is ancestral? How long has  it been present in my lineage? Where does it show up in my life? 

What does a session look like?

Session is approximately 60 minutes long. All sessions begin with exploring where you are feeling blocks in the mind, heart, and body. We will set intentions that we will connect with during the active breathwork experience.

If you are coming in person you will lay on a cushioned mat in my office. You will want to wear comfortable clothing and bring an eye mask, your journal and any grounding items. If we are meeting online you will want to be in a private space that you can lay on a yoga mat or a blanket.

There is a short five-minute introduction explaining how to do the active breath technique. The active breathing runs between 20-25 minutes long. The active breath is accompanied by music curated by the facilitator. At the end of the active breathing portion there is a rest period for 10-15 minutes in which the breathing returns to normal.

There will be time at the end to journal and share about what came up during the breathwork session.

Yes, I offer both in-person and online sessions to cater to your needs. Online sessions provide flexibility, ensuring you can participate from the comfort of your own space while still receiving personalized guidance.
